Behind the global success of the K-pop group GOT7, beloved worldwide for their multinational members and exceptional talent, stands a steadfast fandom: “I GOT7,” affectionately known as “Ahgase.” To hear the vivid voices of these fans, who are another driving force in K-pop, our team at ‘team fanwork’ conducted a survey. Through the heartfelt message sent to us by ‘@TorontoAhgases,’ a fandom that continues to send its warm support for GOT7 from Canada, we hope to share the value of the mutual growth they dream of.

Coloring Toronto with the Passion for GOT7

‘@TorontoAhgases’ is one of the leading GOT7 fan communities in North America. They go beyond simply consuming content, willingly taking on the role of a central hub that promotes the artist and unites local fans. They hosted one of the first birthday cupsleeve events for a GOT7 member in Toronto, creating unforgettable memories for fans, and brought an extra layer of energy to a world tour concert with banners they produced themselves. More recently, during member BamBam’s fan concert, they provided immense support to the artist, who had traveled so far, by delivering a thoughtful meal and a video message. All of these activities stem from a place of pure, unconditional passion.

A Desire to Be Closer

Even for this fandom, which has led such successful projects, there is a slight, lingering feeling of want. Through our survey, they candidly shared their feelings about the lack of an official communication channel. They revealed that when they propose collaborations to agencies or related companies for more organized support, they often receive “no response or very slow feedback.” Finding it difficult to communicate directly with the agency, they could only get confirmations through third-party promoters who organized the concerts. This feeling isn’t born from a lack of passion, but rather is like growing pains, experienced precisely because they want to create an even greater synergy. Instead of voicing complaints, the fans quietly hold onto this longing, driven by a desire to work more closely in step with their artist.

An Unchanging Heart of “Togetherness”

Even when faced with the wall of communication difficulties, their dedication does not waver. In fact, it grows stronger. When asked what message they wanted to send to the agency, they replied, “Please answer. Even if it’s to reject.” This is not a strong demand for something in return; rather, it’s an earnest wish to feel even a minimal bond of connection with the artist.

They also answered that if a project were on the verge of being canceled due to communication issues, they would “proceed even on a smaller scale” to not disappoint fellow fans. For them, the desire to support their artist and stand with the fan community always comes before the immediate difficulties. It is at this point that the fandom’s sincerity truly shines. It is the unchanging truth that no matter the circumstances, fans will always be on their artist’s side, supporting and cheering for them.

Partners in Mutual Growth, Dreaming of K-Pop’s Future Together

Ultimately, what ‘@TorontoAhgases’ hopes for is not a grand reward. While fully understanding the complex situation of the members being in different agencies, they shared their simple wish to one day see a tour with all seven members together. Like this, fans are not just supporters of short-term events but are also ‘companions on a journey,’ dreaming of their artist’s long-term future and growth.

The heartfelt message from Toronto across the ocean sends an important signal to the K-pop industry. Fandoms are not mere consumers; they are ‘partners in mutual growth’ who nurture the value of K-pop by growing alongside their artists. When we listen to these warm voices that we heard directly, the future of K-pop will undoubtedly shine even brighter.
