EPEX is set to hold their first-ever solo concert in China on May 31 at the MAAQUU X CH8 Livehouse in Fuzhou. Titled “青春匮乏 in 福州 (Youth Shortage in Fuzhou),” the event marks the first solo show by an all-Korean-member K-pop group in China since the 2016 cultural ban, signaling a potential breakthrough in the long-standing restrictions on Korean entertainment.
The news generated massive buzz online. Within a day, the Weibo hashtag “EPEX Fuzhou Concert” amassed over 15.18 million views, 30,000 interactions, and 9,000 fan posts. EPEX also climbed to No. 7 in Weibo’s real-time entertainment rankings, reflecting strong fan anticipation for the group’s China debut.
This milestone is also drawing attention in the business world. On April 29, Nomus (노머스), a partner company for the concert through the fandom platform Fromm, saw its stock rise by over 4% during morning trading. Market watchers speculate that expectations around easing cultural restrictions and expanded K-pop activities in China are fueling investor optimism.
EPEX, under C9 Entertainment, has steadily built its Chinese fanbase through magazine features, interviews, and recent fan events in Shanghai and Qingdao. The Fuzhou concert is part of their Youth Trilogy tour, which includes performances in Seoul, Macau (May 3), Taipei (May 24), and now Fuzhou.
Further cementing their global presence, EPEX will release a collaboration single titled “So Nice” with American retro synth-pop duo joan on May 6.
